Wedding Season is about to begin, so I thought I would post a money saving tip for all the brides to be:

Before you put a single stamp on an invitation, take one down to the post office and ask how much postage will be required. Very often, if your invitation is oversized or overweight, it will cost more than a standard stamp.  In addition, if your invitations are on any kind of custom made paper that varies slightly from invitation to invitation, bring several samples with you to weigh at the post office to insure they're all the same.

If you don't check on this, there's a good chance that you're going to end up getting returned invites with big ugly "insufficient postage" stamps on them a couple of weeks later and will have to redo all those envelopes - and waste money on more stamps (not to mention the fact that the invitations will then show up late!). To avoid this, I also suggest you NOT drop all your invites in a mailbox, but instead personally drop them at the post office and ask them to personally mark each "postage paid" for you. Finally, don't send out your invitations "bulk mail". Bulk mail can take up to several weeks to arrive, and is less reliable than first class mail. It's also more likely to be thrown away because it looks like junk mail. Who would have thought that an expensive mistake could be UNDER paying for something?...
